Do you feel like you’re constantly in what Jamie Bright of the Bright Entrepreneur podcast calls “the messy middle”?
One day you’ve got loads of hope, fresh ideas and excitement for what’s ahead.
The next day you’re feeling like everything’s in transition and you don’t even know which way is up or what “normal” should look like.
And another day you’re feeling crushing overwhelm of tragedy, injustice, and conflict in the world.
You’re in good company. I totally get that.
There’s one thing I’ve learned in massive quantities over the past few years as an entrepreneur:
I can’t control what’s “out there.” But I can control what’s in here.
As my friend and mentor January Donovan says, “I can only change myself.”
That might sound like shrinking back from a larger responsibility, but I don’t believe it is.
You are not going to make a positive contribution in the world if you are suffering and stretched too thin, or feeling broken, stuck, depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed.
The only way to make a massive, lasting, positive impact on the world around you is to work on yourself first.
When I did my planning and vision-creating back in 2020, my “word” was RISE. And I’ve continued to take that word with me. Because it continues to have great meaning to me.
It means lean into the hard.
Do the work.
Think new thoughts.
Dream the impossible.
Build the habits.
Take crazy action.
Be intentional in all things.
I’m rising. I’m a work in progress. And I believe we’re better together, and I invite you to rise along with me.
